Built in the 1930’s, the existing stone-clad house on Claiborne Way nestles into a hillside on a pastoral pair of lots abutting the Olmos basin and dotted with mature trees. Our Clients fell in love with the charming property, but its size and outdated layout did not suit the needs of their active, growing family of five. With the goal of creating something new that felt authentic and original to the site, we designed this addition abutting the rear of the existing home and oriented towards the woods and basin. Great care was taken to keep the existing home intact, making the visual impact of the addition subtle and refined. Photography by Mark Menjivar.
